How was Chinese writing invented?\u00a0 What did early Chinese philosophers write and teach?<\/p>\n<p>Participants joined\u00a0<strong>Dr. Shelton Woods<\/strong>\u00a0from Boise State University for an\u00a0<strong>online seminar<\/strong>\u00a0on Ancient China.\u00a0 Participants attended 15 online lectures, each 30 minutes long, which examined the connection of\u00a0 modern-day China to its rich history of philosophy, calligraphy, early religions and more.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s an introductory video to learn more about this program, made by Professor Woods.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fSRH9yyoBwU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>This seminar was sponsored by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/earc\/\">East Asia Resource Center (EARC)<\/a>\u00a0in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington with funding from a Freeman Foundation grant in support of the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA).<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Program Dates and Format<\/h3>\n<p><strong>April 19 through May 17<\/strong>, <strong>2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>Professor Woods posted three pre-recorded lectures at the beginning of each week, starting on April 19, 2021.
