{"id":2796,"date":"2018-11-28T21:27:31","date_gmt":"2018-11-28T21:27:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/earc\/?p=2796"},"modified":"2019-04-25T18:05:13","modified_gmt":"2019-04-25T18:05:13","slug":"write-about-asia-winter-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/earc\/write-about-asia-winter-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Write About Asia Winter 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Write about Asia&#8221; was offered by the East Asia Resource Center in conjunction with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seattleartmuseum.org\/programs-and-learning\/public-programs\/gardner-center#gar\">Seattle Asian Art Museum&#8217;s Gardner Center for Asian Art and Ideas<\/a> Saturday University Lecture Series.\u00a0 Each Saturday (with the exception on February 23), there was a lecture followed by a writing workshop facilitated by <a href=\"http:\/\/dev.jsis.washington.edu\/earc\/people\/mary-roberts\/\">Mary Barber Roberts.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Each Saturday, educators attended the public lecture from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. and then met for a writing workshop from 11:30 a.m to 2:00 p.m.\u00a0 During the workshop, time was given to solitary writing in response to the morning lecture. The workshop nurtured educators as writers through self-reflection and group discussion.\u00a0 Priority was given to full-time K12 teachers.<\/p>\n<p>This University Lecture Series was titled \u201cRoots of Culture: Essential Plants of Asia&#8221;. \u00a0This seven-part series began with &#8220;an arts approach to plants through a comparison of musical structures and trees. Then six talks each focus on cultures and histories of one type of plant.
