Clint Work delved into the historical roots of the North Korean state, its internal mechanisms of social, political and ideological control and the development of critical issues on the Korean peninsula. A Q&amp;A session and an exploration of available teaching resources with Chelsea Toczauer followed.<\/p>\n<h3>Workshop speaker<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/people\/clint-work\/\">Clint Work<\/a> is a Ph.D. candidate at the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington. \u00a0He is a Korean Studies specialist with a focus on 20th century and contemporary Korea as well as U.S.-Korean foreign policy. \u00a0After receiving his M.A. from the University of Chicago he worked in the International Crisis Group\u2019s Seoul office. \u00a0He writes for various publications and is the regular foreign and national security policy writer for\u00a0<em>The Diplomat\u2019s<\/em> Koreas page.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"null\">Meeting details<\/h3>\n<p>Date: Thursday, February 8, 2018<br \/>\nCheck-in Time: 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM<br \/>\nTime: 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM<br \/>\nLocation: University of Washington in Seattle, Thomson Hall (THO) 317<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>Benefits<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Benefits included teaching materials, a light dinner, on campus\u00a0parking and 3 free OSPI clock hours.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<p><em>This workshop was co-sponsored by the East Asia Resource Center (EARC) in the Henry M.
