Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington are proud to present Global Asia: Turning Points in Modern Asian History, their 2016 <a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/nie\/\" target=\"_blank\">Newspapers In Education<\/a> series and workshop. The six-part series, published in conjunction with The Seattle Times, includes an overview article, articles on Central Asia, East Asia, South Asia and Southeast Asia, as well as an article about potential future turning points.<\/p>\n<p>This workshop is one aspect of a collaborative project between the Newspapers In Education program of The Seattle Times and the University of Washington Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies Asia and Global Studies outreach centers as well as the East Asia Resource Center. The project consists of a six-article series, a teaching guide, and this workshop for K-20 educators.<\/p>\n<p>Designed with high school readers in mind, each article in the online newspaper series entitled Global Asia:Turning Points in Modern Asian History is accompanied by classroom ready activities available in our curriculum guide. The series touches on East Asia, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and South Asia. The teaching guide provides a lesson plan for each article that includes activities to do with students before, during, and after reading the featured article.
