Raechel (she/her) received her bachelor’s degree in Japanese, Linguistics, and Asian Languages & Cultures from the University of Washington, where she has returned to work on a master’s degree in Japanese Linguistics. She spent one year in Japan on the JET Program in Tottori Prefecture between her studies. Her main research interest is Japanese language & gender, with special focus on transgender, non-binary, and gender nonconforming speakers. Raechel is the current Communications Student Assistant for the East Asia Center and Japan Studies Program.
