Annette Bernier is the new China Studies and East Asia Center Program Coordinator. She has worked on the University of Washington Seattle campus since 2003. Annette has returned to the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies after working for ten years as the Program Coordinator and the UW Combined Fund Drive Campaign Coordinator in the UW Department of Philosophy and six years as the Asian Studies Program Coordinator for China Studies, Japan Studies, and Korea Studies in the Jackson School. Prior to joining the UW, she had a career as a Letter of Credit specialist at Seafirst Bank (now Bank of America), and in truck and parts sales administration for PACCAR International and PACCAR Parts.

Annette completed her undergraduate degrees in Asian Studies (Mandarin Chinese) and Mathematical Sciences at the University of California at Santa Barbara. She also graduated with a Master’s in Business Administration from the Albers School of Business at Seattle University.

In addition to speaking Mandarin Chinese, Annette enjoys travelling to new places, especially overseas. She stays involved in the community as a board member of the Seattle-Chongqing Sister City Association and with the Seattle Chinese Garden in West Seattle. In her spare time, Annette enjoys walking, reading, and watching foreign films and interesting programs on the local PBS station!
