{"id":4067,"date":"2020-07-28T17:01:09","date_gmt":"2020-07-28T17:01:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/seac\/?p=4067"},"modified":"2020-07-28T17:04:52","modified_gmt":"2020-07-28T17:04:52","slug":"sealc-offers-tuition-support-for-studying-southeast-asian-languages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/csead\/news\/sealc-offers-tuition-support-for-studying-southeast-asian-languages\/","title":{"rendered":"SEALC Offers Tuition Support for Studying Southeast Asian Languages"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: center\">SEALC Project<\/h2>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\">Professional and Materials Development to Strengthen Southeast Asian Language Instruction<\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/iris.wisc.edu\/\">Institute for Regional and International Studies<\/a> | 608-262-0646 | SEALC@intl.wisc.edu<\/p>\n<p>Application for the SEALC Language Tuition Support <a href=\"https:\/\/seasia.wisc.edu\/the-southeast-asian-language-council-sealc-award-from-the-henry-luce-foundation\/\">with support from the Henry Luce Foundation.<\/a>\u00a0<strong>The Southeast East Asian Language Council (SEALC) awards financial assistance to students who incur tuition fees when studying a Southeast Asian language during the academic year at an institution other than their home institution via synchronous distance learning.<\/strong> Priority will be given to graduate students, but all are encouraged to apply.<\/p>\n<p>This award is intended to facilitate cross-institutional collaboration and increase access to Southeast Asian language instruction. SEASSI serves as an excellent resource for summer language instruction; and this award is intended to improve access during the academic year so that students can obtain multi-year instruction in a timely manner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What does the assistance cover?<\/strong> The award reimburses the student up to one-half of the tuition charges (up to $1000 per semester\/quarter) incurred in order to study a SE Asian language via synchronous distance learning at another institution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Application process<\/strong>: <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/uwmadison.co1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_bjiBLbzRKr0SCdT\">Submit the application here<\/a><\/strong> 6 weeks prior to the beginning of the semester\/quarter when you plan to study the SE Asian language. The application includes a series of questions about your language proficiency and need for language study.
