Panelists<\/h3>\n

\"Writer<\/a><\/a>Sunisa Manning<\/strong> was born and raised in Bangkok by Thai and American parents.\u00a0Her first novel,\u00a0A Good True Thai,\u00a0is about young people organizing against a\u00a0dictatorship. It was a\u00a0finalist<\/a>\u00a0for the\u00a0Epigram Books Fiction Prize<\/a>\u00a0for Southeast\u00a0Asian writers. It was published in Southeast Asia in September 2020 and went into\u00a0a second printing in February 2021.<\/p>\n

\"Poet<\/a><\/a>ko ko thett<\/strong> is a poet, poetry translator, and poetry editor for Mekong\u00a0Review.\u00a0thett has published and edited several collections of poetry and\u00a0translations in both Burmese and English. His poems are widely translated and\u00a0anthologized. His translation work has been recognised with an English PEN\u00a0award. thett\u2019s most recent poetry collection is Bamboophobia (Zephyr Press,\u00a02022). He lives in Norwich, UK.<\/p>\n

\"Writer<\/a><\/a>Tiffany Tsao<\/strong> is a writer and literary translator of Chinese Indonesian descent. She\u00a0is the author of three novels, the most recent of which is\u00a0The Majesties. She has\u00a0translated five book-length works, the latest being Budi Darma’s\u00a0People From\u00a0Bloomington. Her translations of Norman Erikson Pasaribu’s writing have been\u00a0longlisted for the International Booker Prize and shortlisted for NSW Premier’s\u00a0Translation Prize and the Republic of Consciousness Prize for Small Presses.\u00a0Photo by Leah Diprose<\/p>\n

\"Assistant<\/a>Nazry Bahrawi <\/strong>is assistant professor of Southeast Asian literature and culture at\u00a0the University of Washington. He is a critic and translator and most recently\u00a0editor of Singa-Pura-Pura: Malay Speculative Fiction from Singapore (Ethos Books,\u00a02021). Nazry is an editor-at-large at Wasafiri magazine and the essay & research\u00a0editor for the Journal of Practice, Research and Tangential Activities (PR&TA).<\/p>\n

\"Wahid<\/a><\/a>Wahid Al Mamun<\/strong> is a Singaporean poet studying anthropology at the University of Chicago. Wahid’s poetry is concerned with the intersections of family, migration, and intimacy. He has featured in writers’ festivals in Singapore and Melbourne, and his works and translations have appeared in Cordite, PR&TA Journal, QLRS, and Food Republic. Notably, Wahid hates string cheese.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"Jen<\/a><\/a>Jen Soriano<\/strong> is a nonbinary Filipinx-American writer, independent scholar, and social movement strategist based in Seattle, WA. She is the author of the chapbook of lyric essays and prose poems \u201cMaking the Tongue Dry\u201d and a full-length collection of essays forthcoming from Amistad Books in 2023. Jen writes about mental health, colonialism, and social justice issues at large, and strives to share marginalized experiences and perspectives through an artistic lens.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"Sharmini<\/a><\/a>Sharmini\u00a0Aphrodite<\/strong> was born in Kota Kinabalu and raised between the cities of Johor Bahru and Singapore. Her short fiction has been shortlisted for the Commonwealth Short Story Prize and placed on the Australian Book Review Jolley Prize. Her essays on art, literature and history can be found online. She is the Submissions Editor for\u00a0Smokelong Quarterly\u00a0and the Fiction Editor for the literary journal SUSPECT.

\"Marc<\/a>Marc Nair\u00a0<\/strong>is a poet and photographer from Singapore.\u00a0His works bear witness to beauty, truth and hope.\u00a0He has published and edited twelve books of poetry and is the co-founder and principal photographer of Mackerel<\/a>, an online culture magazine. He is a recipient of the 2016 Young Artist Award.\u00a0His latest collection is Sightlines (2019, Math Paper Press), a collaboration of travel photography and poetry with Tay Tsen-Waye, a film photographer.\u00a0Marc holds a PhD from RMIT University.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
