Dr. Van Duyn successfully defended his PhD, &#8220;<em>Building Socialist Shanghai: Workers<\/em>&#8216; New Villages and the Socialist Right to the City&#8221; on Friday, May 15th. This was their first entirely virtual defense via Zoom, but reports are that Dr. Van Duyn was not phased for a moment and presented a fabulous defense where he passed with honors.
