Foreign Language and Area Studies<\/a> (FLAS) alumna Samantha Farquhar<\/a> (French, 2018-2019) just had a paper published in the March issue (vol. 73, no. 1) of ARCTIC Journal<\/a> \u2013 <\/em>\u201cInuit Seal Hunting in Canada: Emerging Narratives in an Old Controversy.<\/a>\u201d The article examines the changing narratives around seal hunting in Canada, changes to national policy, and how the Canadian government is planning to increase market access to Inuit-harvested seals.<\/p>\n

Samantha received her MA from the School of Marine and Environmental Affairs in 2019. With the help of a FLAS Fellowship, Samantha spent a summer at\u00a0the Bouchereau Lingua International (BLI) language school in Qu\u00e9bec City where she studied French and Canadian marine policy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
