In early spring, the Canadian Studies Center signed another five-year memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Fulbright Canada to guarantee ongoing support for the Killam Fellowships Program (administered by Fulbright Canada).<\/p>\n

The Killam Fellowships Program allows undergraduate students from Canada and the United States to participate in a program of bi-national residential exchange. The program is supported by an endowment from the American Killam Trust, Global Affairs Canada, and Foundation for Educational Exchange between Canada and the United states (Fulbright Canada). Exceptional undergraduate students from universities in Canada and the United States are given the opportunity to enroll at a participating university in the other country and participate in the life of the host country and community.<\/p>\n

The University of Washington is one of 15 institutions in the United States that is a partner institution with the Killam Program, ensuring that eligible UW students will be selected as fellows. Since 2008, 12 UW students have benefited from these fellowships ($10,000 for a full academic year; $5,000 for a partial year) including workshops in Ottawa and Washington, D.C. and travel funding to further explore Canada. An additional 16 Canadian students have studied at the UW.<\/p>\n
