At the end of August, Monick Keo, the Center\u2019s Program Coordinator for the past eight years will leave the Center for a position with UW\u2019s Quaternary Research Center. Monick has played a huge role in making the Center\u2019s faculty, students, staff, and activities visible to the UW and the nation. For the past eight years, Monick has worked tirelessly to feature our community and events on the Center\u2019s websites and in our e-newsletter.<\/p>\n
Monick has been with the Center since 2010 when she began her undergraduate degree majoring in International Studies with a focus on Japan. She began her time with the Center as a work-study student doing general office tasks, but her role quickly increased into the Center\u2019s website manager and program assistant. Monick was promoted to program coordinator in the summer of 2016, and since then she has helped in financial processing, budget tracking, event planning, and newsletter editing. She has also been in charge of website and administrative projects for the Center.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d like to give a big thank you to the Center for always being supportive and caring for me since the very beginning. I consider the Center staff to be my work family, and I\u2019m grateful for the relationships I\u2019ve built with my fellow Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies colleagues,\u201d said Monick. \u201cI\u2019d like to extend a thank you to everyone I\u2019ve worked with for their kindness and care over the many years. I am grateful for the learning opportunities, memories, and relationships I\u2019ve made.\u201d<\/p>\n
Monick has worked as the Center\u2019s e-news editor for the past couple of years, producing newsletters such as this one. She has helped produce vibrant and engaging reports on the many activities of the Center. The Center\u2019s website and the website for Arctic and International Relations in Canadian Studies reflects her creativity and dedication to Center programs and to our community. We always say, \u201cMonick makes us look good!\u201d<\/p>\n
Monick is leaving her 50% position with the Center for a full-time program coordinator position with the Quaternary Research Center (QRC), where she will oversee and manage the administrative and financial responsibilities of the QRC, Center projects, membership research projects, and events. Monick\u2019s last day will be August 31, 2018. Please join us in thanking her for all she has done to put Canadian Studies and our Canada community on the map.
