Canada and the US have enacted legislation to manage and conserve whales and their populations. These laws share common objectives, but often differ in the way in which they achieve those objectives.<\/p>\n<p><b>Dr. Rob Williams<\/b>, 2009-10 Fulbright Canada Visiting Research Chair, will discuss his research on two transboundary issues in marine conservation: evaluating the effects of ocean noise on whales; and estimating the amount of salmon required to support resident killer whale populations.<\/p>\n<h5>This lecture is sponsored by the Canadian Studies Center, Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies, University of Washington, and by the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies National Resource Centers as part of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dev.jsis.washington.edu\/focus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2010 Global Focus Lecture Series<\/a>.
