Kyla, who is bilingual, grew up in Alberta and spent a number of years in Vancouver.<\/p>\n<p>After marrying an American, at a wedding complete with a model of the Peace Arch Border Crossing from the Canada\u2013U.S. border crossing between Washington State and British Columbia, Kyla moved to the United States in 2004. She earned her master\u2019s degree in Library Science from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, mainly working with media archives, including a stint with National Public Radio in Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n<p>Eager to return to the Pacific Northwest, Kyla and her family relocated to Seattle in 2011. Kyla has spent the last eight years as a school librarian at the French American School of Puget Sound. Sharing resources and new perspectives was her favorite part of librarianship and will be an integral part of her new position. Elle est heureuse de commencer \u00e0 travailler avec vous tous. Allons-y!<\/p>\n<p>Kyla is extremely excited to work with educators and help them learn more about Canadian resources and approaches, through workshops, presentations, publications, and teaching materials. She will provide professional development to teachers and students to support their curriculum, including organizing the annual Study Canada Summer Institute, which has been offered to educators from across the United States since 1988. For more information about any of these initiatives, including the 2018 Summer Institute, visit <a href=\"https:\/\/k12studycanada.org\">https:\/\/k12studycanada.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Canadian Studies Center forms the Pacific Northwest National Resource Center (NRC) on Canada with the Center for Canadian-American Studies, Western Washington University (WWU). Kyla Sweet, at WWU, serves as Education and Curriculum Specialist for the NRC. STUDY CANADA is the NRC&#8217;s annual professional development workshop, offered by the Center for Canadian-American Studies at Western Washington University for over 35 years, serving educators from almost every state in the nation.
