Congratulations to Ayden Tran, Meghan Jean-Francois, Isabel Man, Jena Alam, and Shannon Deng!\u00a0Corbett Scholars build community, connection, and understanding between the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia and beyond!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment-people-thumb wp-post-image alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2026\/06\/Jena-Alam-280x351.jpeg\" alt=\"Woman in front of waterfront\" width=\"167\" height=\"209\" \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/canada\/people\/jena-alam\/\">Jena Alam<\/a><\/strong> is a Biochemistry major at the University of Washington with a deep interest in policies related to biotechnology and healthcare systems. At the University of British Columbia, she is looking forward to exploring how Canada\u2019s universal healthcare system shapes scientific research, academic culture, and policy priorities, and how that contrasts with the privatized structure she has observed studying in the US.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment-people-thumb wp-post-image alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2026\/09\/Screenshot-2026-09-01-at-4.08.51%E2%80%AFPM-280x351.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"164\" height=\"206\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/canada\/people\/shannon-deng\/\">Shannon Deng<\/a><\/strong> is studying Food, Nutrition and Health at the University of British Columbia. She is looking forward to spending the fall at the University of Washington as a part of the Corbett Scholars, experiencing student life in Seattle, meeting new friends, and exploring new academic interests during her time abroad.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment-people-thumb wp-post-image alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2026\/06\/Meggy-Jean-280x351.jpeg\" alt=\"Woman in green shirt\" width=\"166\" height=\"208\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/canada\/people\/meghan-jean-francois\/\"><strong>Meghan Jean-Francois<\/strong><\/a> is a 3rd year biomedical science student at University of Washington Tacoma. She is looking forward to meeting new people and learning more about the Canadian health system during her study aboard.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"attachment-people-thumb wp-post-image alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/canada\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2026\/06\/Isabel-Man-280x351.jpeg\" alt=\"Girl with coat on\" width=\"163\" height=\"205\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/canada\/people\/isabel-man\/\"><strong>Isabel Man<\/strong><\/a> is currently studying Finance, Marketing, and International Business at the University of Washington.
