Satu Miettinen, Tarja P\u00e4\u00e4kk\u00f6nen, and Kiwoong Nam, University of Lapland, Finland, joined the Center during winter and spring quarters.<\/span><\/p>\n

Miettinen, P\u00e4\u00e4kk\u00f6nen and Nam are part of a project \u201cEmpathy Business,\u201d promoting new business opportunities for creative industries. The team has been working on developing a Proof of Concept that considers Chat GPT as a tool for developing customer empathy with designers.<\/span><\/p>\n

In winter and spring quarters 2024, they were scholars-in-residence at the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies. They conducted several workshops for the research project including with the Industrial Design program (with professor Sang-gyeun Ahn) and with the Human Centered Design and Engineering program (with Tyler Fox).<\/span><\/p>\n

The research project also includes the work of Canadian designers. Our visiting scholars teamed up with the <\/span>Emily Carr University of Art + Design<\/span><\/a> in Vancouver, Canada working with associate professor of Interaction Design Manuhuia Barcham.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
