{"id":12325,"date":"2023-09-26T17:34:49","date_gmt":"2023-09-26T17:34:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/canada\/?p=12325"},"modified":"2023-09-26T17:35:00","modified_gmt":"2023-09-26T17:35:00","slug":"study-canada-k-12-hosts-diversify-your-french-summer-institute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jsis.washington.edu\/canada\/news\/study-canada-k-12-hosts-diversify-your-french-summer-institute\/","title":{"rendered":"Study Canada K-12 hosts &#8220;Diversify Your French&#8221; summer institute"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This summer, <a href=\"https:\/\/canam.wwu.edu\/about-study-canada-k-12\">Study Canada K-12<\/a> launched their first virtual institute, called<a href=\"https:\/\/foundation.wwu.edu\/event\/diversify-your-french#:~:text=Each%20week%20we%20will%20explore,one%20session%20or%20all%20four!\"> \u201cDiversify Your French\u201d<\/a>, with the tagline \u201cthere is more to French than baguettes and the Eiffel Tower.\u201d Over four weeks in July, French teachers from around the United States met weekly online to expand their understanding and knowledge of French from throughout the diaspora. They learned about Acadian French from WWU\u2019s\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/chss.wwu.edu\/linguistics\/keppiec\">Dr. Christina Keppie<\/a>, Michif and M\u00e9tis culture from Calgary teacher and Indigenous Coordinator M. Lauren-Rose Stunnell, Global French from UBC professor <a href=\"https:\/\/fccs.ok.ubc.ca\/about\/contact\/nikhita-obeegadoo\/\">Dr. Nikhita Obeegadoo<\/a>, and ended with a primer on Qu\u00e9bec language innovation from Binghamton University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.binghamton.edu\/romance\/faculty\/profile.html?id=bosworth\">\u00a0Dr. Yulia Bosworth<\/a>.
