In September, the “International Indigenous Paths: Building Community Across the Canada-U.S. Border<\/strong>” project kicked off in partnership with the 2022-23 Native UW Scholars cohort.<\/p>\n

Funded by World Learning and the U.S. Department of State, this project aims increase Indigenous student participation in study abroad programs by developing student confidence in the study abroad application process, international travel experience, and connections to existing programs like the Corbett Exchange<\/a>. Through our collaboration with the Center for American Indian and Indigenous Studies, eight students have received funding and prepared passport applications, guided through the process by the Center’s exchange programs manager, and project co-PI, Marion Ferguson. Ferguson also led a workshop exploring the different study abroad options available to students through the UW, and future sessions focused on academic and financial advising are planned.<\/p>\n
