\nIntended for a scholar who has made an outstanding contribution to scholarship and to the development of Canadian Studies internationally.<\/p>\n
\nDesigned to recognize and promote outstanding scholarly monographs, written by members of the Canadian Studies international network, that contribute to a better understanding of Canada. There are two categories: books written in French or English and books written in a language other than French or English.<\/p>\n
\nThe International Council for Canadian Studies Postdoctoral Fellowships give the opportunity to young scholars, who have completed a doctoral thesis on a topic primarily related to Canada and are not employed in a full-time university teaching position, to visit a university with a Canadian Studies program for a teaching or research fellowship. The length of the stay will be of a minimum of one month and maximum of three months. During that stay, the student will receive $2,500 per month, plus the cost of a return airline ticket for a maximum of CAD$10,000.<\/p>\n
\n<\/b>The Canada-U.S. Fulbright Program operates on the principle of reciprocal exchange and provides the opportunity for outstanding American scholars to lecture and\/or conduct research in Canada. Award recipients include prominent and promising scholars, as well as experienced professionals.<\/p>\n\n
\nThe national Inuit organization in Canada has frequently posted opportunities for policy, research and communications work, as well as calls for proposals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\nOpportunities for Graduate Students<\/h3>\n
\nForeign Language and Area Studies Fellowships (FLAS) provide academic year and\/or summer fellowships to assist meritorious graduate students to train in French or Indigenous languages in Canada and Canadian studies. Academic year fellows receive $18,000 tuition, $15,000 living stipend; summer fellows receive $5,000 tuition, $2,500 in living expenses.<\/p>\n
\nThis ICCS Award is designed to recognize and promote each year an outstanding PhD thesis on a Canadian topic, written by a member (or one of his\/her students) of a Canadian Studies Association or Associate Member, and which contributes to a better understanding of Canada.<\/p>\n
\nL\u2019Association internationale des \u00e9tudes qu\u00e9b\u00e9coises, in collaboration with the American Council for Qu\u00e9bec Studies, is offers three research grants annually for up to $2,000 to support graduate-level research on Qu\u00e9bec in the social sciences and humanities and to foster greater understanding of Qu\u00e9bec and\/or its relations with the United States.<\/p>\n
\nThe International Council for Canadian Studies offers 12 Graduate Student Scholarships annually worth a maximum amount of $4,000 for students to spend 4-6 weeks at a Canadian university or research site doing research related to their thesis or dissertation in the field of Canadian Studies.<\/p>\nOpportunities for Undergraduate Students<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n
\nThe Corbett British Columbia-Washington International Exchange Program provides an opportunity for undergraduate students at the UW to study for an academic year at the University of British Columbia or University of Victoria; and for students from those two Canadian universities to study at UW. UW Corbett awardees receive $10,000; Canadian awardees receive $12,000 (U.S.).<\/p>\n
\nThe Killam Fellowships Program, administered by Fulbright Canada, provides up to $10,000 for UW undergraduates to study at one of 19 institutions in Canada (plus two all-expenses paid orientations in Ottawa and D.C. and travel funds). UW students should submit their applications directly to the Canadian Studies Center to take advantage of the UW-Killam Partnership Agreement.<\/p>\n
\nNewly opened to Americans, this\u00a0program is intended for US Students interested in coming to Canada to undertake advanced research projects for 10 to 12 weeks (between May and October) in their area of interest. Projects will be drawn from a broad cross-section of research topics covering all academic disciplines and students will be placed with a university research project and undertake research projects under the supervision of a professor. Students will be given the opportunity to take part in professional training as well as extensive opportunity for cultural, social, and recreational experiences. Selected students are awarded a grant of $7,800 (CAD).<\/p>\n
