They discussed Mr. Penikett\u2019s recent book and his thoughts about how the Arctic is influencing domestic and international policy.<\/p>\n<p>Tony Penikett is currently\u00a0a mediator and negotiator in Vancouver, Canada. He is a\u00a0former politician serving as Premier of the Yukon from 1985 to 1992. He has the distinction of being\u00a0the first leader of the Yukon to successfully negotiate land claims treaties with Yukon First Nations. Mr. Penikett\u00a0was the 2013-14 Canada Fulbright Visiting Chair in Arctic Studies at the University of Washington where he began\u00a0<em>Hunting the Northern Character<\/em>.Arctic and International Relations Series is a joint project of the International Policy Institute,\u00a0Canadian Studies Center, and Center for Global Studies\u00a0in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies, edited and managed by Canadian Studies.<\/p>\n<p>This event was made possible by Title VI grant funding administered by the International and Foreign Language Education office in the Office of Postsecondary Education, U.S. Department of Education; and\u00a0by a grant from Carnegie Corporation of New York. On the latest episode of World Policy On Air, Inuuteq Holm Olsen, the first Greenland representative at the Danish embassy in Washington, explains how the semi-autonomous nation is working to balance an emerging tourism industry and natural resource extraction with environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em>This podcast is a product of the One Arctic workshop that took place at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in April 2016.
