The Corbett British Columbia-Washington International Exchange Program Fund

The Corbett British Columbia-Washington International Exchange Program Fund provides an opportunity for undergraduate students at the University of Washington (UW) to spend two semesters at the University of British Columbia (UBC) or University of Victoria (UVic); and for students from the University of British Columbia and University of Victoria to spend three quarters at the University of Washington.

The scholarship shall be available to undergraduates from any department at the UW, UBC, and UVic who are U.S. or Canadian citizens or permanent residents of their respective countries.

Although the first applicants eligible will be first accepted, preference will be given to students who started and completed their high school education in the State of Washington (if applying from the UW), or in the province of British Columbia (if applying from the UBC or UVic).

All applicants must be full-time undergraduate students in good standing; have met all eligibility requirements of their home university (as they relate to the participation in international exchange programs); be fluent in the English language; be academically meritorious; and, complete the application process prior to the published deadlines.

Amount and Terms of the Award
The Corbett British Columbia-Washington International Exchange Program Fund offers $10,000 (U.S.) in scholarship funds to successful UW recipients and $12,000 for successful UBC or UVic recipients. Award funds may be used to support activities or expenses related to a recipient’s exchange, including, but not limited to room and board, books and supplies, personal expenses, and transportation; and/or other related expenses that enhance the student’s immersion experience. Tuition is paid at the recipient’s home institution.

The duration of the exchange shall normally be for one academic year (three quarters at the UW; two semesters at UBC or UVic).

(Priority is given to students applying for the full academic year. Students applying for a partial academic year will be considered. Successful UW applicants will receive $5,000 for one semester of study at UBC or UVic; Canadian applicants will receive $6,000 U.S. for no less than two quarters of study at UW.)

Deadlines for Application
For UW students applying to UBC or UVic, the last possible date to apply for academic year awards is January 15th of each year; for UBC or UVic students applying to UW, academic year awards are due February 15th of each year.
