Over the course of the summer, two ACCEL Fellows produced the \u201cArctic 101\u201d series.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArctic 101\u201d features a series of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/accelfellowship.wordpress.com\/category\/arctic-101\/\">articles<\/a>\u00a0and educational\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/accelfellowship.wordpress.com\/category\/arctic-101-videos\/\">videos<\/a>\u00a0complemented with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/accelfellowship.wordpress.com\/category\/events\/\">events<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/accelfellowship.wordpress.com\/category\/interviews\/\">interviews<\/a>, and a breakout session about youth perspectives at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcticcircle.org\/\">Arctic Circle Conference<\/a>\u00a0in Reykjavik, Iceland.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uHWZByFGH_Q?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The video component of \u201cArctic 101\u201d aims to take both the abstract and the complexities of Arctic issues and share them in a creative and fun visual manner. To many, the Arctic is \u201cexotic\u201d and far enough way that it seems as though it won\u2019t affect their daily lives. The videos attempt to break down the issues and reveal the connections. As an illustrator and painter, creating the videos required a deep understanding of the issues before deciding how to visualize them. Sometimes the ideas \u201cjust came to me\u201d as I read articles or looked at photos of Arctic flora and fauna! This first video is about the many definitions of the Arctic.
