Study Abroad Programs
There are many study abroad opportunities offered through the University of Washington and through other organizations. Unaffiliated foreign study opportunities often include courses in Religious Studies. Unaffiliated study abroad programs have no direct affiliation to the UW and UW departments have not reviewed the quality of these programs, However, University of Washington students may receive credit for many Unaffiliated Foreign Study Opportunities (UFOs) if they obtain UW departmental approval of credits before departing for the program. To start the process begin with the Office of International Programs and Exchanges at the UW.  Please click here for more information. For information on the UW Office of International Programs and Exchanges, visit their website. Or click to get information from the following UW programs that have been approved for UW credit:

Exploration Seminars allow students to get out of the classroom and into the world by offering an “early fall start” between the summer and fall quarters. These popular  Seminars are designed to provide UW students with a unique new learning opportunity. The idea behind this was simple:

* create programs that get students out of the classroom and into their world
* delve into timely, cutting edge topics
* explore issues in the places where they are most relevant
* study with world-class educators and experienced program leaders
* make the programs available to as many students as possible by offering most of them during the "early fall start" between summer and fall quarters, and with minimal prerequisites
* offer programs from diverse departments and disciplines to a diverse array of destinations
* provide undergraduates with a chance to study intensively, and in small cohorts, with UW faculty

This successful approach to study abroad began with 5 programs to Rome, Belfast, Cape Town, Cuba and Cyprus. Since then, the study series has grown to over 40 current programs on 6 continents. To find out more, visit Exploration Seminars.
