Welcome to the Henry M. Jackson School

Jennifer Butte-DahlWe are thrilled to announce our new 10-month Master of Arts in Applied International Studies (MAAIS) and welcome you to apply now for the 2015-16 academic year.

The MAAIS degree offers a unique and exciting opportunity for individuals seeking an accelerated graduate program in International Studies. Set in the heart of Seattle, one of the most beautiful and most innovative cities in the world, the program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of today’s world.

Taught by a distinctive mix of faculty skilled in both practice and theory, the MAAIS program covers the globe, narrowing in on critical issues and geographic areas engaging today’s diplomats, development experts, military professionals, and business leaders. Course modules examine the social and historical forces at play in Asia, the origins of recent political transitions in the Middle East, the changing nature of global trade, new economic and governance challenges posed by the opening of the Arctic, and the shifting nature of global threats — from cyber-security to water scarcity — to name only a few. Please take a look at our curriculum page for an up-to-date list of courses.

The MAAIS program also draws heavily from the pioneering leadership of the city of Seattle. Students will benefit from the MAAIS Civic Council, a group of organizations and businesses — global players in technology, aviation, entrepreneurship, global health, sustainability, and more — that bring a diverse and multidisciplinary perspective directly into the classroom.

Join us!

Sincerely,
