The University of Washington Jackson School of International Studies is uniquely positioned to provide students with a deep understanding of today’s world. Established in 1909, the Jackson School has grown from a small group of Asia experts to an internationally recognized foreign policy school. The pre-eminent institution for global area studies in the American Pacific Northwest, and indeed the world, the Jackson School hosts nine area studies master’s programs and fourteen area research centers, eight of which are designated as National Research Centers by the U.S. Department of Education.
