Latin American Studies

UW students study abroad for many reasons. Beyond the sheer adventure of experiencing a different world from the one they’ve come to know here at home, these students find many rewards to studying abroad, both personal and professional. The UW has numerous, established study abroad programs at accredited universities throughout Latin America. Most study abroad is organized through the Office of International Programs and Exchanges. For information on established study abroad programs, use the links below. You may always contact IPE or the LAS office for more information.

Three LAS faculty members are leading Summer Study abroad programs in 2009 in Peru and Brazil.

Prof. María Elena García and Prof José Antonio Lucero will lead an 9 week program entitled The Arts of Politics: The Cultural Politics of Contemporary Peru. For more information please click here.

Prof. Jonathan Warren will lead an intensive course in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil entitled Brazilian Modernities: Neo-Slave Developments & the Art of Social Change. for more information related to this program click here.
