UW students study abroad for many reasons. Beyond the sheer adventure of experiencing a different world from the one they’ve come to know here at home, these students find many rewards to studying abroad, both personal and professional. The UW has numerous, established study abroad programs at accredited universities throughout Latin America. Most study abroad is organized through the Office of International Programs and Exchanges. The UWT program in Buenos Aires, Argentina is a full-quarter intensive immersion program comprised of three parts: Spanish language instruction, theoretical/content based instruction in human rights, and a practicum component. Students will travel to Buenos Aires with UWT faculty member Dr. Rachel May, and will study at the Asociación Internacional de Estudios (AIE). Practicum placements will be made through AIE's partner organizations, placing students as volunteers with the NGO of their choice.

program will offer LAS and other UW students an unparalleled opportunity
to escape the Winter rain and cold and get away for an exciting and
fulfilling study abroad experience.
LAS students will be able to fulfill LAS, CHID and UW requirements in customized classes with top-notch instructors. Watch your Spanish improve dramatically through intensive study, live in homestays with local host families, and get to know this dramatically beautiful country through exciting academic and extracurricular excursions.

Exploration Seminars for Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are designed as 5 to 8 credit, four-week, study abroad courses that offer students the chance to explore a topic intensively within the focused inquiry of a learning community.
