The JKS editors and editorial board welcome submissions year round for publication. The JKS is published annually in the fall.
The Journal of Korean Studies is committed to articles that are substantially about Korea, are based on original primary research, and that take both the relevant Korean language and English language literature into account. If comparison with other countries, or inclusion of substantial information about other countries is necessary to achieve the above goals, then we encourage the submission of such articles.
Thematic issues are confirmed two years in advance. Those who have a publication track record and interest in guest editing a thematic issue may send a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and a sample call for papers or a list of potential conference papers to the address below.
Article manuscripts, including notes, should not exceed 50 double-spaced pages in length. Please submit 2 hard copies and an electronic copy of the manuscript. (The electronic version can be submitted on disc or via email.) Notes should be at the end of the text. For endnote style and documentation format, consult the Chicago Manual of Style, 15th ed. (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2003).
Romanization of Korean words and names must follow the McCune-Reischauer system. Materials that have been accepted for publication or are being considered for publication elsewhere should not be submitted to the JKS.
