Sacred Space in the Pamirs through the Eyes of European Travelers

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries European travelers explored the Pamir region recording their observations in the proceedings of geographic societies and as ethnographies. This paper will investigate these explorers’ observations specifically concerning the people they encountered and those peoples’ religious practices.
