NCTA ALUMNI STUDY TOURS
Each year the EARC offers a study tour to one or more countries of East Asia for educators who completed all the requirements of a National Consortium for Teaching about Asia 30-hour seminar in the Pacific Northwest. Designed to build on the knowledge gained in National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA), the study tours provide both first-hand experience and increased knowledge and understanding of Asia. Previous NCTA study tours have traveled to China, Japan, and/or Korea.
Participation is by application only. A grant from the Freeman Foundation in support of NCTA covers most of the expenses of participants in the study tour. NCTA alumni who completed all seminar requirements, can demonstrate how study-tour content will be used in their K–12 teaching, and who will continue to hold a permanent teaching assignment in 2010–11 are eligible to apply. Alumni of previous NCTA study tours to the same destination country are not eligible for the opportunity.
The NCTA study tour for summer of 2010 will be announced in fall of 2009.
