MARCH 2011 REPORT

Dear Friends,
In Winter Quarter the Center was honored to host the AGM for the Pacific Northwest Canadian Studies Consortium with a special visit from Canadian Consul General, Denis Stevens. At the meeting Stephen Hanson, Vice Provost for Global Affairs, accepted two Government of Canada grant checks on behalf of the Center - one for cross-campus programming and the other for the Arctic Governance Task Force. March was a significant month for faculty research and travel. Fritz Wagner, Landscape Architecture, visited Québec to set up a summer program; Dian Million, American Indian Studies, travelled to New Zealand to participate in a conference on Indigenous relations in Canada and New Zealand; and I visited the International Centre for Northern Governance, University of Saskatchewan, to participate in a symposium on Arctic Foreign Policy. We hope you enjoy these stories and more! - Happy Spring! - Nadine
