Educator Programming

The Center, in consortium with the Center for Canadian-American Studies at Western Washington University, is a US Department of Education-designated National Resource Center (NRC) for Canada. Outreach programming is performed under the name K-12 STUDY CANADA that identifies NRC-developed resources for teaching about Canada as well as professional development opportunities such as the annual STUDY CANADA Summer Institute and annual Québec Workshop for French Educators. Links to other outreach efforts such as the Teacher Associate program, bi-annual resource publication, monthly resource e-notices, and Canadian History Award program for the regional National History Day competition are offered below.

The Center is also one of eight US Department of Education-designated National Resource Centers in the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies. Together the Jackson School NRCs host the annual Summer Seminar for Educators, the Documentary Film Workshop and other one-day workshops, and regularly offer presentations at regional and national association meetings. These events are all international in scope with strong Canadian representation.
