Answers by Toni Read
Are JSIS TAships open only to Jackson School students?
No. JSIS accepts applications from graduate students from other departments. However, strong preference is given to JSIS students, when possible.
How many letters of recommendation do I need?
Two letters of recommendation are required.
How do my professors submit their letters of recommendation?
You will add the names of your recommenders to your online application and generate an email with a link to the form and instructions. The recommender will be able to cut and paste the letter into the application recommendation form.
How will I know if all of my letters have been submitted?
You can log into your application and check for activity any time.
Does everyone have to submit letters of recommendation? Even current JSIS TAs?
Are JSIS Ph.D. students required to submit TA applications?
What’s the purpose for the writing sample? Is that required?
Yes, it’s required. JSIS TAs read and provide feedback on student papers. The writing sample allows us to see your writing ability and use of the English language.
When will I be notified about the status of my application?
You will be advised of your status by the end of April 2015. All contact/notifications will be made by email to the email address listed on your application.
